What is DCPD and do I need it in Ontario?

What we collect

We only collect the personal information we need to arrange and service your insurance. This may include:

Information you give us — name, email, phone, mailing address, date of birth, driver's licence and vehicle details, property details, claims and loss history, and for commercial clients, business and financial information needed for underwriting.
Information from other sources — with your consent, we may confirm details with insurers, MGAs, premium finance providers, claims adjusters, credit and loss-history bureaus, and previous brokers or insurers.
Technical data — basic device and browsing information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected through cookies and analytics to operate and improve the site.

How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

provide quotes, place and renew coverage, and service your policies;
communicate with you about your insurance, quotes, and claims;
meet our regulatory, recordkeeping, and compliance obligations under RIBO and applicable law;
operate, secure, and improve our website and forms;
send you relevant offers and updates where you have consented and have not opted out.

Under PIPEDA, we collect, use, and disclose your personal information with your consent. Consent may be express (for example, when you submit a form) or implied where the purpose is obvious and reasonable. You may withdraw consent for marketing at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us; withdrawing consent for marketing does not affect insurance we have already arranged or information we are required to retain for compliance.

We share personal information only as needed to arrange and service your insurance and as required or permitted by law. We may share with:

insurers and managing general agents (MGAs) to obtain quotes and place coverage;
premium finance providers, reinsurers, and claims adjusters involved in your policy or claim;
third-party service providers that support our operations, such as our brokerage management system, our quotation automation tool, and our customer relationship management platform;
regulators and law enforcement where we are legally required to.

We do not sell your personal information, and our service providers are engaged only to perform tasks on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.

Cookies and analytics

We take reasonable safeguards to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse, including encryption in transit, access controls, and staff training on RIBO and privacy obligations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information consistently.

Your rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent for certain uses.
